Doug Ender did a major remodel of a house we recently purchased in Jamaica Beach. It came out beautifully and we are very pleased. We especially appreciate Doug’s expertise and advice concerning some of the choices we made, including some weathered wood effects that gave the house a really unique and distinctive look. We were lucky to have chosen Doug to do our remodel.

Doug and Debbie designed and built us a wonderful custom home on our canal lot
in Sea Isle. The craftsmanship was excellent. Everyone loves our home and wants
to put many of the features in their homes. Doug was very hands on and
personally supervised all aspects of construction. Debbie was very helpful in
selecting quality materials and making sure the project stayed on schedule.
We do not live on the island. Doug and Debbie have always been available since
construction to answer any questions or to help with issues when we are not in
town.
We highly recommend DE Custom Homes and would definitely use them if we
constructed another home.

We are very proud homeowners of a home built ty DE Custom Homes. My husband and I had been looking for a home on Galveston’s west end for approximately one year. We saw many lovely homes, but none fulfilled all the wishes of Doug Ender’s custom homes. There are so many finishing touches and features in our home that we did not see in other homes in our similar price range. Our home has crown molding in the family room providing a custom finish. The glass backsplash in the kitchen is absolutely beautiful. The conversation piece of our home is our flooring, island and stairwell. The “shabby chic” design exemplifies the epitome of a warm, beachy feel. Everything is beautifully coordinated with a soft blue color palette.
A primary feature for us in looking for a bay home was views. The family room and all three bedrooms have balconies, allowing group gatherings or private time on your own balcony. All of the bedrooms are much more spacious than other homes we had seen. Having a full size laundry room was just an extra bonus that provides additional storage not found in many homes. The pantry is very large with not only shelves for food items, but since it is built underneath the stairs, we have additional storage as well. Friends that have visited our home are shocked at the amount of storage we have for a 1,600 square foot home.
The outdoor space on the ground floor is also beautiful. We have an outdoor shower, an amazing bar area with a granite countertop and roll up door. There is plenty of built in lighting to host outdoor parties. With the spacious layout, we have so many opportunities to host gatherings for friends and family.
We absolutely love everything about our home. Friends think that we custom designed the finishes, granite countertops, color scheme, flooring and overall design. But, in fact, we did not. Doug and his wife, Debbie, have a very keen eye for not only good construction but great design. Everything in the house flows well with optimum use of available space.
While all of the physical features of the home are enough reason to buy a DE Custom Home, one thing that really stands out and is the care and concern Doug and Debbie have for the people that buy their homes. We have called Doug to come out several times to look at things we have questions about and he happily comes out and provides clarification for us. However recently during the freeze we experienced, I received an email from Debbie reminding us to turn off the water to the house. I became very nervous because I was out of state at a meeting. Debbie emailed me back a few minutes later letting me know that Doug had gone to our house and turned off the water from the street to our home just in case the freeze damaged the pipes leading to our home. She also stated that Doug had gone around to all of the homes he built to check on them, making sure they were safe. That means a lot, especially when you don’t live there full time knowing that someone is looking out for you.
Again, I could go on and on. We are absolutely thrilled with our home and are very pleased with not only the home, but the personalized service that we receive from Doug and Debbie.

Jean & I were introduced to Doug & Debbie when we decided to build another beach house in Pirates' for our expanding family. After living in Pirates for over 40 years & raising our family on Galveston Island and having built four previous beach houses we had a pretty good idea what we wanted in our new beach home. Doug worked with us to adapt a plan that we had found. We worked together through the details in 45 days and had a plan that met our needs & budget.
Jean worked with Debbie to source the finish materials & colors. We visited the sources & selected all required finishes & materials in the next 30 days.
With our permits, construction finances & insurances in place we left Galveston for our planned summer trip to northern Ontario. We left before piling were set & with confidence in Doug & Debbie we turned the project over to them.
With long distant communication throughout the project we returned to Pirates in October ( 6 1/2 months later) we had our beautiful family beach house completed & ready to move into.

Doug was one of the first people we met after we moved to the island in 2012. We were looking for a contractor to remodel our kitchen and downstairs bathroom in our historic home. Since we had no contacts on the island, we asked our new neighbors and they highly recommended Doug Ender. Doug helped us design our new kitchen and new bathroom. His detailed drawings made it easy to visualize the final product and to interactively come up with a final design.
